Malinda Brinson was born in Indiana, October 28th, 1822. Came to Iowa in 1843. She was married to Isaac Jessup January 19th, 1843. To this union was born twelve children, but five of whom are living, and only four of whom were present at the funeral of their mother. The other one, Harvey, who lives at Pearl, Oklahoma, being unable to reach here. She together with her husband united with the Christian church of Winterset, in the year 1853, and may have been charter members. A few weeks prior to her death, she sustained a fall out from the front door of her son's home where she was visiting, dislocating her hip, which finally resulted in her death. She leaves her five sons, several grandchildren and many neighbors to mourn their loss. She was one of the earliest settlers in the county. The funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday morning at eleven o'clock by Rev. E. E. Bennett, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
