January 1917Edward D. Roy, son of John and Pauline Roy, was born April 5, 1878 in Madison county, Iowa, and departed this life Jan. 7, 1917, at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 2 days.
On Dec. 12, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Young. To this union were born four children: John, Hazel, Esther and Eldon Edward. He lived in Madison county until two years ago, when he moved to York, N. D.
Besides his wife and four children, he leaves one brother, Fred Roy living in Madison county. His father, mother, two brothers and one sister have preceded him from this world. He leaves many other relatives and friends who will mourn his loss. The funeral was held in Winterset at the home of Elmer Young, conducted by Rev. M. M. Cable, pastor of the Methodist church.

Death of Ed Roy
Ed Roy, nephew of Douglas Roy, died of diabetes at his home in York, N. D., on Sunday, Jan. 7th. The remains will be brought here on Friday for interment in Hooten cemetery. The burial services will be held at one o'clock Friday at the home of Elmer Young, a brother in law of the deceased.
