Wednesday, December 7, 2005Lura E. Hoeness, 102, died Nov. 30, 2005 at West Bridge Care & Habilitation in Winterset.
Graveside services were held Monday Dec. 5, at Oakwood Cemetery in Casey with Pastor Jim Howland officiating.
Lura Hoeness was born Dec. 18, 1902, in Casey to Reuben D. and Carrie E. (Halley) Mowry. She moved to Madison County and began farming west of Winterset following her marriage to Harry Hoeness in 1937. Lura was a charter member of the Winterset Art Center and designed much of its church and bridge stationary. She also was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Ann Stevenson, and two sisters, Edna McGinnis and Blanche Richter.
She is survived by one grandson, Allen Stevenson of Winterset.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the First United Presbyterian or Middle River Hospice, both of Winterset.
Arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
