John D. Dowler was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, February 27, 1849. He moved with his parents Joseph and Martha Dowler, near St. Charles, Madison county, Iowa in 1865. He was a resident of Madison county until 1902, when he and his brother, H. D. Dowler, moved to Casper, Wyoming. He had been in declining health for several years and on June 26, 1928, he passed away at the age of 78 years, 4 months. He leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, H. R. Dowler of Casper, Wyoming, and Stewart R. Dowler of St. Charles, and four sisters, Mrs. Jane Imes of Kansas City, Kansas; Mrs. J. W. Eldridge of Winterset; Mrs. W. A. Porter of Cedar Falls; and Mrs. F. R. Porter of Truro; and a host of old time friends.
