On Monday, October 1st, Mrs. James Clifton, who had been a sufferer for almost a year with lung trouble, was released from pain, and was laid to rest in the Ebenezer cemetery the 3d of October.

MacksburgMary A. McGuire was born in Clarke county, Iowa, February 9, 1859, and was married to James Clifton January 25, 1883. She departed this life at her home in Peru on October 1st, and was buried in the Ebenezer graveyard. She leaves two sisters and one brother to mourn her loss. One of the sisters, Mrs. Chas. Garret, resides in this city. She was a loving wife and always made home happy. She longed to stay with her loved ones, but said, “If it is the Lord’s will, I am ready to go.”

TruroDied Oct. 1st Mrs. Jim Clifton of consumption. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. John White at the house Wednesday to a large crowd. She was buried at the Ebenezer cemetery. She leaves a son, daughter and husband to mourn her loss.
