O. P. BEVERLIN OF TRURO IS DEAD -- Was Prominent Farmer in the Peru Community for Many Years --

Omer P. Beverlin, prominent farmer of the Peru community for many years, died last Wednesday, April 7, at his home in Truro where he had lived since 1939. Mr. Beverlin was a native of Illinois, where he was born in St. Joseph on Dec. 11, 1875, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Beverlin. He was 72 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Beverlin came to Madison county as a young man, settling on a farm near Peru where he lived until moving to Truro in 1939. He was married Dec. 31, 1899, to Myrtle Kate Clark. They were the parents of nine children, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Lorene St. John of Malta, Mont., Charles D. Beverlin of Topeka, Kan., Robert M. Beverlin of Great Bend, Kan., Mrs. T. H. Thomas of San Leandro, Calif., Corwin J. Beverlin and Carroll O. Beverlin of Peru, and Lois Beverlin, Mrs. Lester Freeman and Earnest C. Beverlin of Truro. He was a member of the Peru Methodist church and past master of the Masonic lodge at Peru. In addition to his immediate family he leaves 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, E. T. Beverlin of Oregon City, Ore.; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Birdsell [sic] of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Lillian Summers [sic] and Osa Beverlin of Chicago. Funeral services were held last Friday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro in charge of the Rev. V. R . Willey, pastor of the Christian church there. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
