Lawrence DeLong, Winterset --

Services for Lawrence R. DeLong, 94 who died Feb. 4 at the Winterset Care Center North where he resided, were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Brite officiating. Burial was at the Peru cemetery. Born in Pottawattamie County on Dec. 19, 1892, he was the son of Lyman and Julia Pawell [sic] DeLong. He was a farmer and worked in pipeline construction. On Sept. 9, 1914, he married Alverda E. Hougue [sic]. Mr. DeLong lived all his life in Madison County. Survivors include daughters, Gwendolyn Hope and Geneva Addy, both of Winterset; a grandson, six great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
