Milo Myron Miles, a long-time resident of the Patterson community, died last Friday, Nov. 12 at Madison County Memorial hospital. He was 76 years of age.
A son of Ernest H. and Bertha Crossley Miles, he was born near Patterson on April 20, 1906. On May 19, 1939, he married Leah Mildred Brown.
Mr. Miles was a heavy equipment operator, and retired from the Madison county secondary roads department as a foreman. He was a member of the Patterson Lions club and the Patterson Methodist church, which he served as janitor for 30 years.
Surviving are two sons, Milo J. Miles of Arvada, Colorado and Phillip D. Miles of Patterson; three daughters, Joan Morris of Earlham, Sondra Shuff of Indianola and Carolyn Kirk of Rio, Ill.; two sisters, Neva Stewart of Monterey, Calif. and Frieda Handy of Lakewood, Colo.; 16 grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; 11 great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1973; one sister, Cora Alley; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Miles were held Monday Nov. 15 from the Patterson Methodist Church, Rev. Byron Ayers officiated with burial in the Earlham Cemetery.
