Nancy B. Malmquist, 91, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Madrid Home in Madrid, Iowa.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound, Iowa, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Nancy Beulah Boyle, daughter of Morris and Lela (Willison) Boyle was born on July 14, 1933, at her parent’s home in rural Dexter, Iowa. She graduated from Earlham High School with the class of 1951. Following high school, she attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI) where she earned her Elementary Teaching Degree in June of 1953. Nancy taught 4th grade at Boxholm Consolidated School.

On June 12, 1955, Nancy was united in marriage to John Nolan Malmquist at the Penn Center Methodist Church near Earlham, Iowa. To this union three sons were born: David, Steven and Richard. After her sons were born, Nancy returned to teaching 5th grade at Dayton Community Schools until accepting a secretary/bookkeeper position at the Stratford Care Center. She then became Activities Director for the care center until her retirement.

Nancy enjoyed quilting, sewing, counted cross-stitch, genealogy, and taking caring of her yard. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her loving husband, John Malmquist; two brothers, Robert and Jerry Boyle; and her brother-in-law, Frank Hayes.

Survivors include her three sons, David (Ruth) of Prairie City, Steven of Nevada, and Richard (Deidre) of Stanhope; two grandchildren, Nolan Malmquist and Allison (Matthew) Dop; three great grandchildren, McKenzie, Cooper, and Owen Dop; her sister, Coleen Hayes of Urbandale; sister-in-law, Ava Boyle; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
