Death At 69 Of Russell Smith

A farmer born in Jefferson township in Madison County, Russell Wayne Smith, 69, died Friday, September 3, 1976, at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines. He was the son of Sankey and Ethel Betts Smith and was born December 27, 1906.

A lifetime resident of the county, Mr. Smith worked as a farmer until the mid-1960's when he became employed as a maintance man at Camp Dodge. He worked there from 1966 until 1973 when he retired.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Smith was married to Celia Bricker on December 3, 1957 in Adel, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Celia, one brother Virgil T. Smith of Van Meter and a sister Helen Haave of Park Ridge, Illinois.

Funeral services for Russell Smith were held Tuesday, September 7 at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Bousfield officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
