Marion Whitlow Dies On Monday

Marion Whitlow, well known Winterset carpenter and a resident of this community for all but the last two years of his life, died Monday, January 12th in Des Moines after a 2 year illness. He was 71 years of age. Mr. Whitlow was born in Winterset on May 14, 1876, and lived there until moving to Des Moines last June. He was a carpenter by trade. He was married to Josephine Osborn and they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last June 15th.

Surviving are nine children, Wendell, of Des Moines, Lloyd of San Antonio, Texas, William of San Diego, California, Cecil of Des Moines, Mrs. Marjorie Thompson and Mrs. Mary Twombly of Des Moines, Mrs. Ladena Line of Van Meter, Mrs. Rosella Hildebrand, of Winterset and Mrs. Maxine Scott of Des Moines. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Baker and Mrs. Flossie Phillips, both of Des Moines and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Ramsey-Richards Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
