Tuesday, February 6, 2024Charles “Chuck” Anker, 96, of Earlham passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Community Care Center in Stuart. Visitation will be held from 10-11 A.M. on Monday, February 19th at the Earlham Methodist Church. Celebration of life service will begin at 11 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Earlham Rescue and/or the Stuart Community Care Center. Chuck, as he was better known to friends and family, was born on June 6, 1927 to James and Irene (Souders) Anker. He grew up in the Earlham area. On December 8, 1946 he was united in marriage to Shirley Clampitt in Earlham. To this union two daughters were born, Nancy and Elizabeth. The couple made their home on an acreage north of Earlham. He worked as a locomotive engineer for Marquette Cement and later Monarch Cement before retiring after 46 years.
Chuck was a longtime member of the Earlham Methodist Church and part of the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his shop and helping others. Chuck always treasured time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; eight siblings and their spouses. He leaves behind his daughters, Nancy (Cliff) Johnson of Waterloo and Elizabeth (Mark) Earhart of Stuart; grandchildren: Jeffery (Alice) Englin, Shannon (Jeff) Dole, Daniel (Heather) Englin, Michael (Heather) Englin, J.B. (Kerri) Barnhouse, Kate (Matt) Millage; great-grandchildren: Anna (Clayton) LaChance, Joshua Englin, Isabella Dole, Delaney Dole, Sam Englin, Mia Englin, Jack Englin, Lauren Englin, Jane Barnhouse, Charlie Barnhouse, Sophia Millage, Max Millage, and Cyrus Millage; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
