Rev. Gladys P. Priest, age 85 of Plymouth, MN passed away on Dec. 20th 2005. She was preceded in death by husband; parents, Dorothy & Emil Petersen, a brother, Norman. She is survived by 3 children, Ellen, David (Loral), Carol; 5 grandchildren, Anders, BritaLisa, Eric, Emily and Joseph.
Gladys was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Maple Plain, MN. She graduated from high school in Madison, MN and attended the U of M. During the war, she worked at Minneapolis Honeywell and was their first woman advertising copywriting. She married Harry in Dec. 1949 and moved to Duluth to raise their family.
She was an active member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church and one of their first women elders. Harry passed away in 1970 and she moved to Plymouth in 1975. She graduated from United Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity degree in 1980.
She served as minister for First Presbyterian Church in Earlham, IA from 1981 to 1987, after which she returned to Plymouth and served as interim minister for several congregations. Her last position was as Parish Associate for Plymouth Presbyterian until her retirement. She loved music and was an oil and watercolor artist.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Dec. 27th 2005 at Plymouth Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, Minn.
Memorials preferred to Red Lake Homeless Shelter, Red Lake, MN or Plymouth Presbyterian Church.
