Funeral services were held for Mary Lucille Ross at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa.

Pastor Donald Applegate of Earlham, Iowa officiated. Special music was “Amazing Grace” by Elvis Presley”, “Green Green Gras of Home” by Tom Jones, and “Bring on The Rain” by Jody Massina.

Pallbearers were Michael Holtry, Rodney Knowles, David Saffeels, Monte Sergeant, Max Van Blaircome, and Brandon Madren.

Honorary pallbearers were: Brian Knowles, Devon Saffeels, Chase Knowles, Zachery Knowles, Kyle Waddell, Chelsey Saffeels, Raylee Saffeels, Brianna Knowles, Emily Knowles and Lyndsey Bauer.

Mary L. Ross was born the daughter of Andrew and Dorothy (Thompson) Van Blaircome on May 28, 1929 near Vandalia, Missouri and died at her home in rural Earlham, Iowa on October 28, 2007 at the age of 78 years, 5 months.

Mary attended Centerville, Iowa schools and married Lloyd Ross on April 4, 1947 in Centerville. This union was blessed with 4 children: Brenda, Mary, Linda and Janice. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, doing word search puzzles, reading, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. No matter what, Mary was always able to share a smile with those she met.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Brenda Sergeant of Cincinnati, IA; Mary Holtry of Peru, IA; Janice Kennard of Earlham, IA; brothers: Paul Van Blaircome of Drakesville, IA; Max Van Blaircome of Numa, IA: sisters: Eva Schriver of Centerville, IA: Judy Stout of Ottumwa, IA: Jo Ann Young of Palouse, WA; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd Ross in 1988; daughter Linda Simmons; sisters: Pauline and Fern Van Blaircome; Gwen Lehman; Beulah Crowder; Nadine Ross; brothers: Roy and Keith Van Blaircome; and a son-in-law Michael Holtry, Sr.

Interment was held in the White Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa at 3:00 p.m.

Kuhn Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
