Page 2Memorial services were held for Dennis M. Rogers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Redfield, Iowa.
John Ledbetter officiated. Congregational hymn was “Keep Your Eyes On The Prize”.
Dennis M. Rogers was born the son of Myron and Faye Piper Rogers in Cedar Falls, Iowa on May 2, 1945. He died after a brief illness at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines on July 14, 2007 at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 12 days.
Dennis graduated from the Janesville High School in 1963. Dennis served in the Iowa National Guard, being Honorably discharged in 1971. He worked at the Iowa Mental Health Facility in Independence, Iowa where he met another employee, Sandra Blomquist. They were married August 20, 1966 at the Dexter Methodist Church. This union was blessed with three children, Tim, Dawn and Matt.
Dennis attended the Linn Community College and became a computer programmer. He programmed computers at numerous airlines across the country such as Dallas, TX, Tulsa, OK, Minneapolis, MN, Los Angeles, CA as well as Walgreen’s in Chicago and Blue Cross in Des Moines. Dennis then operated his own cleaning business called Bright Works, where he and Sandra cleaned commercial building in the Des Moines metro area. Both Dennis and Sandra retired in April of 2007.
Dennis was a very active member of the Kingdom Hall in Redfield. He also loved to play the guitar. He raised goats, homing and fantail pigeons. Dennis loved to work around the house and yard. Although he was a homebody, the family did travel to Hawaii and Disneyland. Dennis was a family oriented person and loved spending time with this grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife Sandra Rogers of Dexter; son Tim Rogers and wife LaDean of Redfield; daughter Dawn Rogers of Urbandale; son Matt Rogers of West Des Moines; grandchildren: Justin, Dion and Sonja Rogers; father Myron Rogers of Vinton; brothers: Randy Rogers, Kevin Baskins, Kerry Baskins, Steve Rogers and Mary Rogers; sisters: Mary Hartman, Sharon Coleman and Linda Bierman and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Faye, brother Douglas and sister Linda.
Private interment of cremains at Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa. Kuhn Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
