Mrs. I. K. Barnes Died On April 4
Had Been Resident of Peru Comminity for 48 Years

Mrs. I. K. Barnes, a resident of Peru since 1900, died at ther home there on Sunday, April 4, at the age of 79 years.

Mrs. Barnes was a native of Missouri, where she was born February 16, 1868, the daughter of Benjamin and Harriet Wilson. She was the former Mary Jane Wilson.

When she was 12 years old the family moved to Franklin, Nebraska, where her early life was spent. She was married there November 4, 1887 to Isam K. Barnes. They lived in Franklin until 1891, moving from there to Taylor County, Iowa. They came to Peru in 1900.

They were the parents of six children, two daughters preceding her in death. The husband and father died in 1932. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Ella Lorenzen of Truro, Mrs. Louise Simpson of Des Moines, Isam K. Barnes of Truro, and Missel Abegg of Gary, Indiana. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held from the Kale funeral home at Truro, in charge of the Rev. J. D. Stevens of the Peru Methodist church. Burial was made in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Peru Happenings

Mrs. Mary Barnes, Well Known Peru Resident, Died April 3rd

Mrs. Mary Barnes, who had been seriously ill for several months, died at her home in Peru Saturday, April 3rd. Funeral services were held at the Kale funeral home in Truro Tuesday, April 6th and burial was made in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes had resided in this community since the family moved here from Missouri many years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Lorenzen of near Peru, Mrs. Louise Simpson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Missell Abegg of Gary, Ind., and a son Isam, who lives near Truro and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Barnes and two daughters, Clara and Iva died several years ago.
