Wednesday, April 21, 1943FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT MARSHALLTOWN
E. E. Howe, former Madison county resident, died Sunday, April 18th at the home of his son Marion Howe in Marshalltown. Mr. Howe who had made his home in Clarke county and Osceola for many years, had gone to Marshalltown to visit his son, and was stricken with a heart attack while there.
Mr. Howe was born in Fayette county, Ohio, but came to this county with his parents when he was one year old. He was raised in Walnut township, but moved to Clarke county a number of years ago. He was 74 years of age.
He is survived by four sons, and a daughter, Ray, Raleigh, and Leo Howe of Osceola, Marion Howe of Marshalltown and Mrs. Floyd McComas of Osceola. He also leaves a brother, J.W. Howe of Truro and a sister, Mrs. Laura Mease of Peru. His wife and son Earl have preceded him in death.
His funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Truro, April 20th, and burial was made in the Ebeneezer cemetery.

Funeral services were held for Eugene E. Howe from the Methodist church at Truro, Iowa, Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. R. Underwood of Oxford officiating with Rev. Watson of Truro assisting.
Mrs. Aletha McIntire and Mrs. Pauline Foster beautifully sang two selections, accompanied by Mrs. Mildred Bagg.
Interment was in Ebenezer cemetery near Truro.
Eugene Erastus Howe, son of John and Rebecca Howe, was born in Fayette county, Ohio, June 28, 1868. He departed this life at the home of his son Marion, near Marshalltown, Iowa. April 18, 1943, at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 20 days. He came with his parents to Madison county, Iowa when about one year old. He grew to manhood in the Truro vicinity and married Imo G. Ellis June 26, 1889. To this union were born six children, Raymond, Raleigh, Leo and Mrs. Beulah McComas of Osceola, Marion of Albion, Iowa, and Earl C. deceased. His wife preceded him in death August 4, 1935.
E. E. Howe was the youngest of a large family of children of which two are still living, Mrs. Laura Mease of Peru, and J. W. Howe of Truro. About 30 years he was engaged in the meat business and the remainder of his life he devoted to farming. He was an exceptionally good father and husband and very loyal to the family. He united with the Friends church when 16 years old but his present membership is with the Methodist church of Williamsburg, Iowa.
He leaves four sons, one daughter, twenty grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of friends.
