Obituaries – Mrs. George Thurman

Phebe Marinda Moore, Oldest daughter of John and Tamer Moore, was born July 26, 1865 in Knox county, Illinois, and died Monday morning, Dec. 29, 1941 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Everett Iiams, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 3 days.

She came to Adair county, Iowa with her parents in 1869. She was united in marriage to Frank Moody, July 26, 1883 and to this union were born three children, Edith Elvira, Ada May and Clara Tamer, Edith and Clara having died in infancy.

On April 24, 1895 she was united in marriage to George Thurman and to this union was born five children, Charles, Johnnie, Alma, Mina and Alva.

At an early age she united with the Baptist church and lived a good Christian life.

She leaves to mourn her death, six children, Johnnie, Alva, Mrs. Ada Thurman and Mrs. Alma Iiams of Lorimor, Charlie and Mrs. Mina Burgan of Murray. Also one sister, Mrs. W. B. Fuller of Hillsboro, Ore.; 19 grandchildren and one step son, Fred Thurman of Des Moines. Also many other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her in death, Aug. 18, 1937.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, at East Union church east of Lorimor. Rev. C. P. Shepard conducted and music was furnished by a male quartette. Burial was made in the East Union cemetery.
