Jack Braman

Jack Braman, 81, of Brighton, Colo., died on Saturday June 3, 2023, He was born in Winterset, Iowa, to Dale Braman and Betty Rogers, the younger brother of Don Braman, and graduated from Winterset HS in 1960.

Jack married his first wife, Betty Brandt in October of 1960, who passed away shortly after. Jack then met and later married Carol Jean Wiig of Winterset, Iowa, on June 25, 1967. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this month.

In 1969, Jack and Carol first settled in Podunk Iowa, Where they farmed, began a family and made international news when reporters did a story on the history of this small, Iowa town. After a year they moved to Macksburg where Jack continued farming, fished the farms many ponds, and took an interest in brick masonry, specifally fire place installations. In 1985 Jack moved his family to Aurora, Colo., where he continued in the construction trade, fell in love with the Blue River, Breckenridge and margaritas at one of his favorite restaurants: Mia Casa.

After a few short years in Colorado, Jack and Carol moved to Bella Vista, Ark., to be closer to Carol's parents where Jack continued working in the construction trade and found that he enjoyed landscaping. It's in Bella Vista that Jack began a career as a custodian, retiring in 2008 from Pea Ridge Schools. In 2009 they made their final move back to Colorado where Jack finished his working years as a substitute custodian with 27J Schools in Brighton and enjoyed his love for fishing as best he could.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carol; their two children, Michelle (Stan) Rice and Chad Braman, three grandchildren; Colton Rice, Mason Rice, and Lita Braman and his brother Don (Marty) Braman. He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
