Page 1, Column 5JEREMIAH RHODES DIED IN VAN METER
Jeremiah Rhodes, 78, former resident of Winterset, died May 15 at his home in Van Meter. About two years ago he was stricken with paralysis and since that time had been helpless and most of the time bedfast.
He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Rhodes and was born near Bloomington, Illinois, November 28, 1850. The family came to Winterset when he was about a year old and had lived here until six years ago when he moved to Van Meter.
He was married to Nettie Stout January 30, 1890. He had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1900. His wife, a sister, Mrs. C. A. McLarnand of Winterset; a brother, C. L. Rhodes of Adel, survive.
Services were held Friday afternoon at the United Brethren church in Van Meter conducted by the Rev. L. B. Foster; burial was in the Van Meter cemetery.
