Alma B. Bunnell (1901-2006)

CEDAR FAILS - Alma B. Bunnell, 105, of Cedar Falls, died Friday. Nov. 24, at Western Home Communities. She was born Feb. 8, 1901, in Winterset, daughter of Marcus James and Grace Smith Boyce. She married Floyd Bunnell on June 14, 1928, in Winterset. He died Jan, 30, 1998.

Mrs. Bunnell graduated from high school in Winterset in 1920 and from Iowa State University in 1925 with a bachelor's degree in home economics and agriculture. She taught at Jesup High School from 1925 to 1928; farmed in Madison County from 1929 to 1941; farmed in Cedar Falls from 1941 to 1955; and was employed as a dietitian at Sartori Memorial Hospital retiring in 1969. She continued to volunteer at Sartori and at the Western Home Communities until she was over 100 years old.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Grace Faye of La Mirada Calif, and Alice V. (Gene) Janssen of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Cheryl (Ed) Earls, Brian, Garrett, Tim and DJ, all of Chino, Calif, Tom (Pauline) Faye of San Clemente, Calif, Nancy (Vince) Palasik, Skylar and Shelby, all of Montclaire, Calif, Steve (Donna) Janssen, Benjamin and Olivia all of Homewood, Ill, Pam (Andy) Johnson, Aaron, Rachael and Alex, all of Bayport, Minn, and Connie (Shawn) McAlpine, Alicia and Luke all of Colstrip, Mont.

Preceded in death by: four brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Clifford Faye.

Services: 1:30 pm Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home with private burial. Public visitation from 3 to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home with family present 4 to 7 pm Memorials: may be directed to Western Home Communities, Cedar Valley Hospice or the family to be used for missions.
