Mr. Atchison, of Union township, died very suddenly on Tuesday morning. He walked three quarters of a mile the day previous, to the residence of W.W. Gentry, his son-in-law, and ate a hearty meal on his return home. His death was sudden and painless and took place about four o'clock Tuesday morning. Hew as an old and highly esteemed settler and reached the good old age of about seventy-five years.

Transcriber note: The 1930 obituary of his daughter, Eleanor Jane (Acheson) Gentry lists her as the daughter of John. Name inscribed on John's gravestone is spelled Acheson.
