Richard “Dick” Nesbitt – age 88, of Lake City, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, Iowa.

Richard Lowell Nesbitt was born October 31, 1933, in Perry, Iowa. He was the son of Merle and Geraldine (Harsh) Nesbitt. He was educated in Des Moines and Adel schools. Then during middle school he moved with his family to Earlham. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1952 where he was homecoming king and was a four sport letterman. On April 4, 1953, Dick was united in marriage to Gerada "Geri” Martindale in Earlham, Iowa. The couple lived in Charles City where Dick operated Cashman’s Nursery and then Girard’s Flower Shop. In 1972, they moved to Pocahontas where they operated Nesbitt’s Flowers and Fashions. In 1985, they retired and moved to Newell. Geri passed away in 2001 and Dick continued to make his home in Newell.

Dick was the proud creator of “Sentimental Saddles" monument flower holders. He enjoyed men's softball, bowling and playing snooker. He loved to fish and was an avid sports fan, including the Iowa Hawkeyes and he especially loved spending time with his family and following their activities.

Survivors include his children, Craig (Shari) Nesbitt of Pocahontas, Brad (Barb) Nesbitt of Urbandale, Pam (Rick) Sievers of Newell and Scott (Janelle) Nesbitt of Lake City; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and brother, Bob (Janet) Nesbitt of Oregon.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geri; son, Lance and sister, Dorothy Lehman.
