Died, Monday, April 4th, Susan E. Thompson, wife of C. C. Thompson, and daughter of Lewis and Lucy Jessup of this place. The deceased was born in Madison county and was about twenty-nine years of age. Her friends all remember her as a bright vivacious girl, who made a friend of everyone she met. She taught school in Nebraska and Iowa until twenty-two years of age, when she was married to C. C. Thompson, of Creston. After she had been married two years, she gave evidence of failing health and her husband took her to Denver in hopes that the mountain air might restore her. About two years ago she showed positive signs of consumption and gradually grew worse until last Monday, when death relieved her suffering. She died with a first faith in Christ and the resurrection.

Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Hiram Pearce and J. E. Beard. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church and for several years has been a faithful worker in the Master’s vineyard. On her death bed she entreated all of her friends to prepare to meet her in heaven.

She leaves a husband, two children, father and mother and many friends to mourn her early departure.
