Judith A. Wallace, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Latham, N.Y., on September 10, 2022, after living with Alzheimer’s for several years. She was born on April 16, 1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Staley and Margrette Nelson. Judith grew up on the family farm near Earlham, Iowa.

After graduating from Earlham High School in 1956, she graduated from the American Institute of Business and attended Drake University. She was employed by the Goodyear Tire Company in Des Moines as an administrative assistant.

Following her marriage to Hugh Wallace on August 21, 1961, she worked for the University of Iowa Athletic Department. Judith always felt that her most important job was caring for her family. Throughout her life, she enjoyed church activities, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dean Nelson, and her sister-in-law, Patricia Wallace.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh of Latham; her daughter, Lori Wallace of Latham; her son, Mike Wallace, and daughter-in-law, Keri Mounce of Iowa City; her sister, Diana Playle of Des Moines; her sister-in-law, Eileen Nelson of Adel, Iowa; her brother-in-law, Warren Wallace of Chariton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends their gratitude to Community Hospice for their care and support. Services will be private at a later date at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice. To leave a special message for the family online, visit NewComer-Albany.com.
