Nancy Lou Kaehlar, 87, of Whiting, Iowa passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa with Pastor Josh Nink and Elder Bryce McFarland, officiating. A live stream will be posted on Goslar Funeral Home website with Nancy’s obituary. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Nancy Lou Kaehlar, daughter of Albert John and Lulu Calma (Cummings) Woodrich was born February 12, 1935 on the family farm north of Whiting. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Nancy was raised in rural Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School with the class of 1953. On June 14, 1953 Nancy and Adair V. Kaehlar were united in marriage at the Whiting Christian Church. They lived in Blair, Nebraska for one and a half years and then moved to Whiting, Iowa, where they lived for sixty-seven and a half years.
Nancy met Adair at Safeway in Onawa, where he worked and she later joined him in working at Safeway. She worked there for twenty-eight years until the store closed. The two later bought and operated Kaehlar’s Onawa Foods. After, retiring form the grocery store business, she went to work at the Whiting Christian Daycare and later at Magic Depot where she was a lead teacher in the infant room. Nancy retired in 2010 from Magic Depot.

Nancy was a member of the Whiting Christian Church, and taught Sunday School class for many years.

She loved spending time with the love of her life, Adair. They shared his love for music which kept them very busy. They very much enjoyed Christmas, when 33 Christmas trees adorned their home, each tree was decorated with a different theme. Their home was always open for guest to stop by and enjoy the trees.

Nancy treasured the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her one daughter, Cindy (Tom) Frank of Winterset, Iowa; three grandchildren, Betsy (Bryan) Snyder of Winterset, Iowa, Katie (Lee) Hall of Winterset, Iowa, Chris Frank of Winterset, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Brady, Blake, Brigham, and Bristol Snyder, Layla and Sophie Hall; nephew, Tony Woodrich; two great-nieces, Jodi Phipps and Jami Phipps and their families; and close friends and family.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Adair Kaehlar; her parents, Albert and Lulu Woodrich; two brothers, Bobby John Woodrich, and Cleo Woodrich; a sister-in-law, Lila Woodrich; niece, Sandy Phipps; infant grandson, Sammy Frank; and great grandson, Sullivan Hall.

Memorials in Nancy’s memory may be donated to the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa.
