MARY E. JOHNSON

Madison, SD - Mary E. Johnson, 90, Madison, died Saturday, March 11, 1989, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Madison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Rager officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Brookings. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Ellsworth Funeral Chapel in Madison. The family will be present at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mary Elizabeth Sellers was born on July 27, 1898, at Winterset, Iowa to Samuel and Clara (Bruce) Sellers. She moved with her parents to a farm near Mount Vernon, SD in 1910. She graduated from high school at the School of Agriculture in Brookings. She married Harlow Gilbert Johnson on Feb. 14, 1924, at Brookings. They lived on a farm north of Brookings their entire married life. Mr. Johnson died in 1956 and she moved to Madison in 1963. She was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Homer Johnson, Gingin, W.A. Australia; three daughters: Mrs. Kermit (Velma) Zingmark, Salem, SD; Mrs. William (Edith) Larson, Issaquah, Wash; and Fern Johnson, Whittier, Calif; nine grandchldren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Mrs. Glen (Leona) Hartman, Hot Springs, SD; and Mrs. Lucile Svoboda, Lombard, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

MADISON—Mary E. Johnson, 90, Madison, died Saturday in her residence.

Mary Elizabeth Sellers was born July 27, 1898, in Winterset, Iowa. She moved with her parents to a farm near Mount Vernon in 1910 and was graduated from high school at the School of Agriculture, Brookings. She married Harlow Gilbert Johnson on Feb. 14, 1924, in Brookings. The lived on a farm north of Brookings their entire married life. Her husband died in 1956. She moved into Madison in 1963. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Homer, Gingin W.A. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Madison United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings.

Visitation will begin Tuesday morning, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., in the Ellsworth Funeral Home, Madison.
