WINTERSET

Fred C. Prohaska, 92, of Winterset died of heart failure Aug. 23, 1996 at the Community Care Center in Winterset. Services were held Aug. 27 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial in Ellis Cemetery near DeSoto.

Mr. Prohaska was born in Earlham and lived most of his life near there on the family farm. On Nov. 28, 1935 he married Nellie Ruth Baker. He was an interior decorator, retiring in 1975, and a member of Earlham United Methodist Church. He had lived at Community Care Center in Earlham since 1987.

Mr. Prohaska is survived by a son, Lucian F. Prohaska of Winner, S.D. and a daughter, Lucia R. Mueller of Ames. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1975 and one sister, Mary Prohaska in 1995.
