Earlham, IowaDaryl E. Gordon, 78 of Adel passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Everystep Kavanagh House in Des Moines. The family will hold a celebration of life service from 1-5 P.M. on Sunday, August 28th at the Earlham Community Building. Private family burial will be at the Earlham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future designation. Online condolences may be left at johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Daryl was born on August 15, 1943 to Dale and Dorothy (Webb) Gordon in Des Moines. He grew up on the family farm north of Earlham, while attending Earlham Schools. He later moved back to the home-place north of Earlham after living in other areas of Dallas and Madison counties. He was united in marriage to Barbara Simpson on May 28, 1965 in Adel. The couple was blessed with two children, Adam and Margarete.
Daryl began working at Fawn Engineering in 1976 until his retirement in 2012. He was an active member in the UAW, AAA, AARP, NRA and NGFA. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and watching the “purty” girls.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reuben and Christine (Countryman) Webb; parents, Dorothy and Dale Gordon; and sister, Linda Archulita.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara of Adel; son, Adam Gordon (Karen) of Earlham; daughter, Margarete Buscher (Jeff) of Maxwell; grandchildren: Diana (Brett), Jessie (Jake), Josh (Jordin), Beth (Dan), Zack (Sarah), Brett (Kira) and Shane; great-grandchildren: Malaila, Halle, Addie, AJ, Taelin, Cici, Forest, Charlie, Fox, Sam, Max, Maxine, Kash and Leo; sister, Juanita (Eddie) Trujillo of New Mexico; brother-in-law, Felix Archulita of Taos; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
