Delmar Eugene Hobart, known as Butch to many, was born on February 21, 1942 to Byron and Charlotte (Pevestorf) Hobart in Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Bagley High School in 1959 but always said he graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. On March 3, 1960, Butch married Joan Jackson at the Jefferson Christian Church. During most of his life, Butch worked as a welder in Greene County before moving to Madison County. His most recent job was running a maintainer with the Madison County Secondary Roads Department.

Butch was an avid outdoorsman enjoying many days fishing and hunting. He enjoyed working in his shop and tending to his land. Over the years, Butch supported many wildlife and conservation organizations. He and Joni loved to do-si-do, or as many call it square dancing, on the weekends. Butch was also community oriented. He would always help a neighbor in need or be one of the first to lend a hand. He would do just about anything for anyone. Most important to Butch was his family. He loved his kids, grandkids and great grandkids more than anything.

Butch is survived by his 3 children, Anne (Kevin) Comer of Urbandale, Mike (Chris) Hobart of Prole, and Byron (Sara) Hobart of Truro; brother, Doug (Barb) Hobart of Grimes; sister, Jane Hoffman of Jefferson; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan “Joni” Hobart; parents, Byron “Barney” and Charlotte Hobart; parents-in-law, Ralph and Aryles Jackson; and brother-in-law, Dick Hoffman.
