Virginia Alice Lamm Beener, 94, of New Virginia, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sept. 5, 2016, surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. Visitation began one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment was in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
Virginia was born on March 21, 1922, in Truro, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Erma Hazel (Short) Lamm. She graduated from Truro High School. On Dec. 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Louis Edward Beener. Mom always made sure our home was open 24/7 to extended family, friends and neighbors, to enjoy her home cooked meals and hospitality.
Virginia is survived by her children: Louis (Retha) Beener Jr. of Otley, Iowa, Mary Adams of Des Moines and Connie (George) Vasey, Linda (Charles) Edwards, Dixie (Marvin) Davidson, Marsha Beener and Joyce “Holly” (Kirk) Jackson, all of New Virginia, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis, son, Jimmy Joe Beener, daughter, Theresa Marie Beener; grandchildren, Andy Edwards and Caroline Beener and great-grandchildren.
