Carol Ann Bassett of Truro passed away suddenly on April 8, 2022 at her home with her husband, Dick and daughter Jodie with her. She requested no funeral and there will be a Celebration of Life, Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Osceola Eagles Lodge Aerie #3495. Memorial Contributions may be directed to her family for a tribute to be decided at a later date.

Carol was born on December 16, 1947 to Steve and Ida (Brandt) Halldorson in Regina, Saskatchewan and grew up in Manitoba, Canada. She lived and attended school in Arden and lived with Ma Parmar and family in Brandon, Manitoba. Her parents passed away and she went to live with awful Aunt Annie and then with Edith and Walter Hovind. She attended schools in Geneva, NE, Amarillo, TX and graduated from Osceola, Iowa with the class of 1967. She then attended college at York, NE. She worked as a waitress at Champlin, sold Avon where she won many awards for salesmanship; managed Breadeaux Pizza and worked at Hardees, Pizza Hut and Lakeside Buffet until her retirement.

Carol was united in marriage to Dick Bassett on February 3, 1968 at the Church of Christ in Osceola, Iowa.

She is cherished by her loving family; daughters, Jodie and Pat (Sonny) Collins and children, Megan, Chris, Ciara; Missi and Stephen Lanier and children, Dalton and Delanie; son, Mark Hatfield and Greg; sister-in-law, Fonda Isenberger; brother-in-law, Rod and Karla Bassett; sister, Retta and Wayne Risser; niece, Susan (Todd) Steward and family; nephew, Stephen Risser and Grace Mogatas; grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews, cousins and her many friends and the special group, The 47 Families.

She loved to crochet, sew, plant flowers and garden, decorate for holidays, do hard puzzles, travel with Dick going to garage sales; playing cards with family and friends and camping with friends and family at The Iowa State Fair.

She was a member of the Osceola Ladies Fire Auxiliary for 14 years. She was involved with the Girl Scouts and assisted her husband, Dick in coaching girls softball.

She was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Ida Halldorson; parents-in-law, Norma and Chuck Bassett, nephew, Eric Phillips.

She was a member of the Osceola Ladies Fire Auxiliary for 14 years. She was involved with the Girl Scouts and assisted her husband, Dick in coaching girls softball.

She was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Ida Halldorson; parents-in-law, Norman and Chuck Bassett, nephew, Eric Phillips.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Osceola Eagles Lodge Aerie #3495, Thursday April 14, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Interment will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery
