KITT, Raymond L.

Passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2015 at the age of 94. Raymond Lester Kitt was born July 13th, 1921 to Raymond and Katherine Kitt in Madison County, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marcella and Lucille, brothers George, Harry and Clarence. He is survived by his sister Gertrude.

Raymond graduated from Orient High School in 1940 where he excelled in football and was nicknamed “Typhoon.” When his sister Gert would return to their home town, friends of Ray would always ask how brother “Typhoon” was. He received a football scholarship to Marysville Missouri Teachers College.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Raymond joined the Navy with his bother George and served as a Pharmacist Mate.

In 1946, Raymond married Esther Bossio who preceded him in death in 1967. Together they had eight children and is survived by Diana, Marilyn, Michael, Steven, Katherine, Brian, Douglas and Susan. Raymond married his second wife, Marilyn Fanning who preceded him in death in 2009. She brought with her two daughters, Janet, who preceded him in death in 2003 and Patty. Together they had four children and are survived by Raymond, Charlene, Cindy and Wayne. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Many happy memories are recalled with dad’s vacation home on Hayden Lake and in dad’s senior years his retirement farm up north. Our dad spent his last 13 years back in Spokane. Thank you to those family members who spent time caring for our father in his last years. A special thank you to Dr. Hurly and Wendy for caring for him over the years. We will miss you pop.

A Graveside Service will be at Holy Cross Cemetery (7200 N. Wall) on August 8th at 2:30 pm for the family. Funeral arrangements provided by Hennessey Funeral Home.
