JOHN L. KILLAM

John L Killam, 69, of 1428 46th St died of a respiratory ailment Friday at Charter Community Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peterson's Funeral Home in Indianola, and burial will be in Indianola IOOF Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Killam was born in St. Charles and had lived in Des Moines since 1960, coming from Ottumwa. He retired after 35 years with Northwestern Bell Telephone, was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and had been a member of Telephone Pioneers and Immanuel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Litwak of Des Moines; two sons, Jim of Osage Beach, Mo., and Larry of Des Moines; four sisters, Ruth Townsend of Tucson, Ariz., Carolyn Mills of Des Moines and Mary Lou Sargent and Margaret Greener, both of Indianola; three brothers, James P. of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Robert and Timothy, both of Ames; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Heart Fund.
