Don worked for John Deere prior to beginning his career farming. He married Judi Fields on June 10, 1967. In 1969 Don and Judi made their home near Booneville where they raised their 5 children.

Don farmed in the Dallas County area his entire life, later joined by his sons. He enjoyed spending time volunteering for multiple service organizations. Most notably, the Dallas County Fair board where he spent 11 years as a director, made many friends, and countless family memories.

Don enjoyed many things throughout his life, the biggest one being his large family. The joy in his children was only surpassed by the joy he found in his grandchildren. He spent countless hours watching any activities the kids were involved with.
