BERTHA SHEETS OF VAN METER DIES

Mrs. Bertha A. Sheets, a lifelong resident of Van Meter, died Sunday, June 21. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Sheets was the former Bertha Alta French, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judson French. She was born in a log cabin north of Van Meter on Dec. 22. 1885.

She was married March 25, 1908, to Albert E. Cunningham. They were parents of a son. Mr. Cunningham died in 1915, and on Sept. 10, 1919, she was married to William B. Sheets. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last year.

In her earlier years, se was active in community and church organizations, and was a member of the Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by her husband, the son, Homer V. Cunningham of Des Moines, a foster son, Harold R. French of Van Meter, two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Stump of Van Meter and Mrs. Vinnie Schultz of Des Moines; two brothers, Harry French of Des Moines and Bennie French of Van Meter. She also leaves two grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in chare of the Rev. C. G. Sparks. Burial was made in Thornton cemetery.
