Kenneth Conard

Kenneth Conard, 87, passed away at his home in Winterset on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Ken was born on December 13, 1934 in Prescott, Iowa to Earl and Ruth (Veatch) Conard. He graduated with a bible degree from Omaha Baptist Bible College and married Carol Ann Cline on December 19, 1964 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset, Iowa. Ken worked in construction for most of his life. He built the first ever geodesic dome house in Iowa and built the first ICF home in Winterset. He was also a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.

Ken had a very strong work ethic. He made sure to teach this and a love for Christ to his four sons. He was also a very creative and forward thinking man. His ability to create anything out of thin air was outstanding, but it was never anything normal. Over the years Ken started many business ventures, many including construction and building trades. He was a man of principle and was very strong in his faith.

In his free time, Ken enjoyed putting together puzzles. Once finished he would glue them all together to enjoy. He amassed a very large collection of puzzles over the last few years. Ken also liked going to government auctions and always came home with a pickup full of bulk items. One time, he came home with a truck bed full of old typewriters to fix up and sell. Overall, Ken loved his family and enjoyed teaching and spending time with them all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Carol; sons, Joel Conard of Iowa, Lisa Conard of Iowa, Jeremy (Heidi) Conard of Texas, and Jamie (Kim) Conard of Winterset; grandchildren, Micha, Jessie, Lauren, Kira, Tori, Rebekah, Emily, Bailey, Brittney, Natalie, Cohen, Noah, Elise, Isaac, Ian and Trenton; and Cindi Conard and Danielle Conard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Conard; brother, Dean Conard; granddaughter, Michaala Conard; and sisters, Yvonne Meyer and Joan Mead.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset with a visitation one hour prior. Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.
