Craig J. Milligan, 63, of Winterset, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 15th at the church. Memorials may be directed to his family for local designations.

Craig Jeffrey Milligan was born on November 11, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son Marvin and Betty (Barcus) Milligan. He was a 1977 graduate of Indianola High School. He married Joy Tish on December 30, 1989 in Winterset.

He had been a farmer for most of his life. He called himself a steward of the land. He also drove a school bus for Indianola and Winterset School Districts and had worked at Meredith Printing in Des Moines.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Farm Bureau, Winterset Optimist Club and Winterset Band Boosters. He was the audio/visual specialist for the Winterset High School Band and Vocal departments. He was a caretaker of Peck Cemetery, was a township trustee for Lincoln Township in Warren County for over 30 years, and was very much supportive of the Republican Party.

Craig was an avid lover of John Deere tractors, enjoyed short wave and CB radios as a hobby, and loved all animals, including his special dog, Holly.

Craig is survived by his wife, Joy Milligan of Winterset; daughter, Kaitlin Milligan of Winterset; son, Daniel Milligan of Winterset; and brother, Steve Milligan of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Betty (Barcus) Milligan.
