Page 2, Column 2Deever “Jack” Simpson, 75, a resident of Prairie City for 39 years, died Thursday, August 16, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 18 at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. David McNeeley, pastor of the Hope Assembly of God in Colfax, conducted services. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; three brothers, Clifford of Des Moines and Ernest and Melvin, both of Monroe; a sister, Beryl Kinart of Monroe, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Simpson, who was a member of the Hope Assembly of God in Colfax, was a foreman at the H.S. Ostlin Co. in Prairie City for 33 years, retiring in 1982.
The son of Orly and Sadie Koons Simpson, he was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Barney. He was a graduate of Rib Lake (Wis) High School.
He was married to Mary Slykhuis Kain August, 29, 1937 at Winterset.
