Ruth Geraldine Sheriff Minor, the only child of Albert Edward Sheriff and Rosa Ruth Bender Sheriff was born in the Irish Settlement in Warren County, IA September 8, 1920. She passed from this life on December 17, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA at the age of 94 years. Geraldine also lived in the St. Mary’s and Prole area in Warren County; Avon Lake, IA and Eagle Lake, FL.

Geraldine was educated in the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Indianola schools, graduating from Indianola High School with the class of 1939. She was a graduate of Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines but liked bookkeeping better and worked for Metcalf Oil and J.C. Penney Co., before her marriage. She retired from CDS. Geraldine married Earl Edwin Minor on October 20, 1947 in Indianola, IA and they were the parents of two children, Susan Ruth and Carl Edward. They also made a home for their twin granddaughters Jolene and Pamela.

Geraldine was a Sunday School teacher and a girls 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in New Virginia.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ernest) Sarnowski of Osceola, IA; her son, Carl (Vicki) Minor of Winterset, IA; twin granddaughters, Jolene Minor of New Virginia, IA; and Pamela (Steve) Dunkin of New Virginia, IA; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at New Virginia Cemetery, Saturday December 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Darin Feikema officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Kale Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to Salvation Army, New Virginia Christian Church or New Virginia Township Fire and Rescue.
