Charles A. Newburn

Charles A. Newburn, 52, 1215 14th St., was dead on arrival at a Sioux City hospital Thursday night after being confined to his residence for several months because of illness.

Mr. Newburn was born June 13, 1920 at Burney, Iowa. He had resided here for the last 30 years. He was employed by the Sioux City Community School District for 17 years.

Mr. Newburn married the former Betty Hodgins April 22, 1944 at Pender, Neb.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Newburn and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include the widow; five sons, Richard, Charles and Robert, all of Sioux City, and Patrick and Michael, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Charlotte) Collins and Mrs. Bernard (Mary) Attema, both of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Clifford of Sioux City; and three sisters, Mrs. David Enders of Compton, Calif., Mrs. Elmer Eshelman of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Floyd Lucart of Sioux City. The body was taken to the Larkin Funeral Home.
