JOHN R. KORDICK Special Dispatch to The Register

LEAVENWORTH, KAN. - John R. Kordick, 68, of Leavenworth, formerly of Des Moines, died of an apparent heart attack Friday at home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset. Additional services will be at noon Tuesday at the chapel of Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, where burial will follow.

Mr. Kordick was born in Winterset and lived in Des Moines most of his life until moving to Kansas in 1984. He was a retired nurse's aide and had been a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Dowling Club. Surviving are three brothers, Joseph of Woodward, Charles of Winterset and Leo of West Des Moines; and four sisters, Evonne Brimmer of Warren, Mich., Theresa O'Roake of Colfax, and Dorothy Kordick and Rose Kordick, both of Tucson, Ariz. Beldon-Sexton Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
