A Des Moines man was fatally injured early Saturday in the collision of his car and a truck on Interstate 80 at its junction with U.S. Highway 169 west of here.

Kenneth Richards, 47, of 1631 Eightieth place, died at Mercy Hospital several hours after the accident. A passenger Jacqueline Vermeulen, 40, of 711 Nineteenth st., West Des Moines, was reported in critical condition with numerous multiple fractures at Iowa Methodist Hospital.

Services for Kenneth G. Richards, 47, of 1631 Eightieth place, who died Saturday at Mercy Hospital of injuries suffered in a car accident, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Arnold's Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Richards was injured about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when his car and a truck collided on Interstate 80 at Highway 169, west of here.

Born in Truro, Mr. Richards had lived at Mount Pleasant and in Des Moines the past 14 years. He was a real estate salesman for Neil Adamson Realty and formerly owned Richard's Standard Station for 12 years.

He was a member of Grace Methodist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Clinton Masonic Lodge at Fairfield, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Highland Park Business Men's Club and the Shrine Diplomats.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; a daughter Kenna. and a son, Jon, both of Des Moines; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Richards of Osceola; a sister, Vera B. Allen of Marysville, Wash, and a brother, Vernon of Hillsboro, Ore.

The family suggests memorials to the Za-Ga-Zig Burns Transportation Fund.
