Marjorie “Marj” Robbins, 74, of Patterson, died Sunday, May 23, 2021, at her home.
Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, May 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, Madison County. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Patterson Community Center. Memorials may be directed to the Patterson United Methodist Church.
Marjorie Elizabeth Robbins was born on November 28, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Rollie, Sr. and Ruby (Newkirk) Robbins. She spent her lifetime in Patterson and had been a clerk for the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Iowa.
She was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church and The Yellow Dog Society. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and was a Patterson youth group leader.
Marj was a “mother” for every child around. She was always teaching people how to cook. She taught them simple recipes to illustrate how to keep things simple in life. Family always came first, she taught them to keep an eye on each other and take care of them. You could always find your way back to her house because her house was always open to everyone.
Marj is survived by her son, Jack Robbins; 6 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews; and 9 and 3/4 great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie, Sr. and Ruby (Newkirk) Robbins; son, Jim C. Elmer Robbins; brothers, Bill Robbins, Rollie Robbins, Jr., and John Robbins; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
