Page 7, Column 5David Wilson Preble, was born in Dart county, Ohio, December 28, 1855, and passed away at his home In St. Edward, Neb., Sunday, Mar. 23, 1930, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 25 days.
While still a small lad his parents moved to Galva, Ill. Here he grew to manhood, then moving still westward he settled at Earlham, Iowa. Here he was married to Mary E. Crawford, after living here about four years the family came to Nebraska, and for the past 40 years or more have been associated with the life and growth of the community in and around St. Edward.
For many years Mr. Preble farmed on the Skeedee, retiring from his labors some 12 years ago the family moved to St. Edward building a comfortable modern home. Mr. Preble's health began to fail some months ago and he was confined to his room for many weeks prior to his death.
Of a quiet retiring nature, Mr. Preble had many warm friends who will miss him, while his loss in the family circle is keenly felt. He is survived by his widow, his son Jesse of Lincoln, his daughters, Mrs. F. G. Spencer, Santa Cruz, Calif., Mrs. Ralph Hazel, Belgrade, Mrs. Geo. Kealy and Miss Mitus Preble of St. Edward. He also leaves 10 grand children, a brother, Chas. Preble, Galva, Ill., and a sister in Illinois.
Services were held from the family home, Tuesday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Simms of the Presbyterian church and the body laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery. Relatives and friends from a distance were Jesse Preble and family, Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Matson, Albion, Mr. and Mrs. Hodge and son Herbert, Mrs. Fred DeLancy, Chas. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Louden and son Wallace all of Fullerton, Mr. Haun, Sam Vosburg, C. V. Moon, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Moon, Mrs. Wm. Randall, all of Belgrade, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reitz, Genoa.
