February 2021John Paul Scrivner, son of Robert Arthur Scrivner and Mattie Elizabeth Lehman Scrivner was born March 12, 1927, in Madison County, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at his home in Saint Charles at 93 years of age.
Paul received his education in Madison County where he attended and graduated from St. Charles High School. He then attended Coyne Electrical School from 1944-1945.
He was united in marriage to Betty Joyce Wright on April 12, 1952, at Annandale, VA and one daughter Sheila blessed this union.
Paul and Betty made their home in Saint Charles, Iowa where they owned and operated their Electrical contracting business. Paul also served his community caring for and opening graves for nearly forty cemeteries in and around Madison County.
Paul enjoyed collecting guns and was interested in older cars, owning 1941 Chevrolet. Paul was a skillful carpenter and built flower boxes and a handmade gate for the family garden in Saint Charles. Paul was kind to animals and relished walks with his dog, Panda Jack, which they spent birdwatching and enjoying nature.
Those relatives who preceded Paul in death were his father, Robert Arthur Scrivner; mother, Mattie Elizabeth Scrivner; wife, Betty Joyce Scrivner; infant twin brother, Philip Dale Scrivner; infant brother Robert Scrivner, Jr.; brother, Ivan Edward Scrivner; brother, Charles Scrivner; Joe Scrivner; brother, Gene Scrivner; brother, Grant Scrivner; brother, Guy Scrivner; sister, Ruth Smith; sister, Mildred Irene Scrivner; sister, Mary Peak; sister, May Ewart; and granddaughter Kristen Hinkle.
Paul leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Sheila (Cecil) Norris of Nixa, MO; grandson, Ryan (Kara) Norris of Saint Charles, IA; Great-Grandchild, Wava Norris of Saint Charles, IA; Great-Grandchild, Carter John Hinkle of Nixa, MO; sister, Lois Burt of Cedar Rapids, IA, as well as other relatives and many friends.
Per his wishes, Paul has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Kale Funeral Home assisted with Paul's cremation plans.
Interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery.
