WAVERLY—Darol J. Schweer, 66, of Urbandale, formerly of Waverly, died Sunday, Feb. 6, at home of cancer; survivors include his wife, Jane; a son, Gerald of Center Point; a daughter, Sally Engelhardt of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Hazel of Sergeant Bluff; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Colleen Teter of Loyal, Wis., and Hedy Witts of Denver, Colo.; and a brother, Jay of Davenport; he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, Windsor Heights, with private family inurnment in Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to Darol Schweer Scholarship Fund at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.

Mr. Schweer was supervisor of city budgets in the state Department of Management, retiring in 1993. He was former city clerk of Waverly and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
