Linneas A. Conway, long-time resident of Grand River township, died September 5 at his home in Afton. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Conway was born at Marshaltown on Aug.5, 1867, the son of Lloyd and Sue Conway. When he was two years old he came with his parents to Madison County. They settled on a farm southwest of Macksburg, where he lived until 10 years ago, moving to Afton at that time.

He was married March 7, 1907, to Martha Jane Claypool. They were the parents of one son, Linneas A. Conway, of Waterloo. He is survived by his wife, the son, three step-daughters, Gladys Cochrell, of Alhambra, Calif., Daisy Hurwitz, of Shreveport, La., and Merle Conway of Saskatchewan, Canada, two step-sons, Boyd Claypool of Des Moines, and Floyd Claypool, of Afton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mamie Rowe, of Bloomfield, Hattie Riddell, of Lacona, and Emma Craven of Macksburg, and two brothers, Carl Conway, of El Moreno, Calif., and Glenn W. Conway of Winterset.

Funeral services were conducted from the Macksburg Methodist church in charge of the Rev's. Lloyd Latta and J. E. England. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
