Relative in Madison county received the news of the death of Merle F. Jessup of Oceanside, California Saturday. Mr. Jessup was born in Grand River township in 1894, the son of the late Lewis and Kate Doty Jessup. The family moved by covered wagon to Lamar Colorado about the turn of the century but had visited in Macksburg and vicinity many times since.
He is survived by his wife, Lametta, sons Byron and Roger, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Frank Doty of Macksburg is an aunt, Miss Vennie Busch and Mrs. R.A. Bonham also of Macksburg and Mrs. H.U. Garrett of Colfax, formerly of St. Charles, are cousins.
