Obituary – Charles Burrell Dead

Funeral services for Charles Burrell were held Saturday afternoon at the G. C. Haddock funeral chapel. The Reverend C. W. Basham conducted the services. The music was in charge of Mrs. J. A. Griswold and Mrs. Lewis Dartt with Mrs. A. J. M. Johnston as pianist. The pallbearers: L. D. Beatty, R. M. Wilson, A. J. M. Johnston, Charles Chapman, A. G. Brown and C. A. Gibbs.

Charles R. Burrell was born Nov. 29, 1851 in Illinois and died December 5, 1928, in Watonga, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years and 7 days.

He came to Iowa with his parents and one sister and brother, at the close of the Civil war and located in Madison county. They located at Greenfield in 1875. He and his brother, J. A. Burrell purchased a blacksmith shop. Later he was engaged in the mercantile business until he moved to Watonga, Oklahoma in 1890.

He was united in marriage with Miss Lyde Priddy, October 5, 1879. She and two children preceded him in death. She was brought to Greenfield for burial July 18, 1928. One brother John Burrell, of Greenfield and one sister, Mrs. A. L. Hager, of Des Moines, survive him. – Adair County Free Press.
